I’m sure you’ve heard of flat irons, curling irons and wands, wavers, and maybe even crimpers. But have you heard of a hair volumizing iron? Voloom is a revolutionary product- an iron that volumizes your hair- no product and no teasing required. If you have fine/thin hair, flat hair, or just love some volume, you’re going to want to see this!
The Voloom iron has waffle-iron like plates that are ceramic coated and use ionic technology. Instead of pulling the iron through your hair like you would with a flat iron, Voloom should be clamped on your hair for 1 second. The “waffle” plates create what Voloom calls “volume pockets” that lift your hair up, without the damage of teasing.
To use the Voloom, you simply section your hair off using the sectioning brush and clips provided, leaving the top layer of hair alone to cover the “volume pockets” after using the iron. I’d highly suggest watching their how to video and reading the manual before using it for the first time. You can also go to bombshell beauty supplies to get hair serum and other hair products to help keep your hair healthy. You can treat your hair 2-3 times using the 1 second clamping, and it’s suggested to only use the Voloom on hair from the cheekbones and up. You can also use different temperatures for different hair types. For fine or damaged hair, stick with 320-350, normal hair (mine) 350-370, and for coarse hair, 370-390. I loved the digital LED display because it was super easy to use and the iron heated up quickly, as I could see what temperature it was.
It is really important to section your hair off correctly, or else some of the textured hair will either show through or not be covered at all, as shown by the photo above. It was definitely a little difficult for me to use this iron because I am not the most hair-savvy beauty blogger on the block, by any means!
Regardless, I still got some nice Voloom-inized hair after a bit of a learning curve. I only did one section on each side of my head, and clamped 3 times to get these results. It’s more natural, but still voluminous. The before and afters on their website are a LOT more dramatic, and I can’t say I’d actually wear my hair like that- but it shows how much Voloom really works.
The Voloom Volumizing Iron retails for $129.99 and comes with the sectioning brush, 3 sectioning clips, and heatproof mat/case as pictured above. Although it’s not a product I typically would have bought since I’m not a hair kinda gal, I think the value is great for someone who really needs to amp up the volume!
