I’ve been ordering out *way* too much lately, which hasn’t been good for my waistline or wallet. So, I have been trying to challenge myself into trying more recipes, because I typically have the same 5 or so things on rotation. This week I’ve been craving wings a ton, so I thought why not take a stab at them myself? I was sent this Ginger Sesame Sauce by The Ginger People and had a lightbulb moment that I could make some Asian glazed wings! I was pleasantly surprised with how well they turned out, so I thought I’d share the step by step! It’s great if you don’t have a ton of time because it’s really easy, since the sauce is already done. Plus, you could say it’s a bit healthier as the wings are oven baked and not fried.

Oven Baked Ginger Sesame Chicken Wings
Serves ~1-2
- Pack of Chicken Wings (I used Party Wings, and it was 1.23 lbs)
- Ginger Sesame Sauce by The Ginger People (half of the bottle will work- but I used the whole thing and had leftover sauce)
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 oz water
- sesame seeds (optional: I didn’t use but thought they’d make the sesame pop)
Preheat oven to 450°F and put a large pot of water (seasoned with salt) on the stove to boil. Add chicken wings to pot when boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for 7 minutes. Leave to dry on paper towel/wire rack and transfer to uncoated sheet pan to bake. Put the wings fat-side down and cook for 25 mins. Flip and cook for an additional 10 minutes. After you flip, put the sauce in a saucepan and let simmer to thicken. If it doesn’t thicken naturally, or you’re impatient (me), mix corn starch and water in a separate container to form a slurry and add little by little to the sauce until you get your desired thickness. Once wings are ready, toss in sauce and serve!
These wings are great because they come out of the oven super crispy, which is partially due to the par-boiling method which renders some of the fat off of the wing so they don’t get too soggy while baking. Of course, feel free to use the wing recipe with the sauce of your choice.
Let me know in the comments- how do you like your wings? I love mild buffalo wings or honey BBQ. Flats or Drums? It was a close race on an instagram poll I did…I’m team flats! 🙋🏻
I also plan to share with you my recipe of chicken sausage. If I could order DCWcasings, this dish would be absolutely perfect. If one day I decide to start my business, I would definitely order their products.
