One of the most hyped up hair lines for me recently has been Kristin Ess For Target. I don’t get excited over hair much, because I really don’t do much to it. I don’t even blow dry my hair…But, one staple product I’ve fallen in love with over the past few years is texture spray. To me, it’s my hair spray and texture in one product. So, anytime I see a new one on the market I have to have it. You may have seen my Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray review or my OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray review, but forget everything I said there, because Kristin Ess Dry Finish Working Texture Spray has changed the game for me and blown the other two out of the water…and it’s the cheapest at only $14.😱
Here’s what Kristin Ess herself has to say about the product, as printed on the back of the bottle (love):
• For all hair types
• Texture building
• Instantly volumizing
• Ultra-light hold
• Soft matte finishHands down, the best affordable dry texturizing spray. I truly mean that. Create a soft matte txture or lived-in look by applying a light veil all over. Focus mostly on the roots and middle of the hair.
Rarely do I make waves without this.
How to:
1. Create your desired hairstyle.
2. Add textured, soft matte finish and lasting hold by spraying this at the root first and then add a small amount from middle to ends.
Tip: Apply a little, wait 30 seconds, then see if you need more. Give the spray a chance to dry, creating texture and grit before adding a second layer.
Well, she isn’t wrong. If you’re trying to achieve Lucy Hale or Lauren Conrad Tell hair vibes (I’m pretty sure I’ve shown hair she’s styled for Lucy to stylists more than once), this is the product to get.
I mostly straighten my hair, as shown above- but, rather than looking limp and pin-straight, the spray adds a ton of volume and makes my hair look more polished.
The spray is a buildable hold & texture- I find that it has more hold and more texture than both OUAI and Oribe’s texturizing sprays. I usually add a few layers, which can build up in the hair if you aren’t careful, so I just wait a minute for the spray to dry before adding any extra layers for Texas-level volume.
I got a blowout recently and used this spray in my curls, as I rarely curl my hair myself. But, these loose beachy waves with straight ends are pretty much what Kristin is known for. The spray added the right amount of worn-in imperfection, and the piecey look that I really like.
If you haven’t tried this product, you NEED to get it. I’m adding the rest of her line to my wishlist now, because I am in. love. Plus, #thatpackagingtho.
