POP Beauty Peak Performance Mascara Review

POP Beauty launched their Peak Performance Mascara last year and it has proven to be quite an innovative product! This mascara has a cool comb applicator instead of a wand. It comes in 3 shades, a black called Brilliant Black, a brown called Cocoa Charm, and a blue called Inky Indigo.

This mascara is also very hygienic and will last a lot longer than regular mascaras because you are not exposing the entire product to the air, you are just twisting a little bit into the comb at a time!

The cool comb applicator will take a minute to get used to, but it’s a really effective way to apply mascara. I find that this mascara is great to use on bottom lashes because the applicator makes it that much easier! Before showing you each of the mascaras on my eyes, I’ll let you know a little more about the formula. This mascara is a pretty wet formula that kind of makes your lashes look shiny! It is mainly a volumizing mascara, so I actually prefer to use it as a mascara “topcoat” for some additional volume. I did find that it flaked a little bit though!

The black is a must-have. I showed it here layered over a lengthening mascara, also by POP. I like this combo because it provides both length and volume. In the other photos you will notice there is a lot of volume but no length.

Cocoa Charm gives a very natural look to the lashes. Peak Performance kind of tubes around your lashes, making it look very natural. As you can see it’s not clumpy or dry looking…it almost looks shiny! This one I’d say you could skip, unless you’re a beginner with makeup.

Inky Indigo is by far my favorite, just because I really like the idea of colored mascaras for spring. I wish this one was a little more electric, but it does show up very nicely on bottom lashes!

Overall this mascara isn’t for everyone, but I really liked it. It’s priced at $20, which will make it an occasional splurge for me, but not a daily must have. I think you should try it just because it’s so unique! Find POP at ULTA or online!

I received this mascara in one of my Birchboxes and I was pretty excited to try it, because I love getting mascaras! LashXtend is a fiber mascara that will physically lengthen your eyelashes (temporarily of course) as well as volumize. I typically find that fiber mascaras only lengthen for me, but a good tip is to use a fiber mascara and then use a volumizing mascara afterwards for a faux falsies result.

As you can see on my lashes, it’s nice and does add length to my lashes, but has virtually no volume. For $24 (on birchbox), I’d skip this mascara because you can find better options at the drugstore. One of my next posts will be about eyelash extensions, I have had so many people asking my opinion on them and I thought it was timt t was time to try them out. I found a great girl at Winnipeg eyelash extensions and I am giving her a try this week.

Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara Review

I love getting mascara samples, so I was excited to get this in my Sephora order! This mascara is supposed to give beautiful, thick eyelashes in a single stroke.

I do think it does a pretty good job of volumizing without looking too clumpy. I could use a little more of both length and volume, personally, but it’s pretty nice. My problem with this mascara is that I always end up getting it all over my eyelids when I apply it, and I’m not sure why! But, overall it’s a really nice mascara. And at only $15, you’re not breaking the bank!

the Balm is a great brand that I’ve been introduced to thanks to some beauty subscriptions I’m subscribed to. They make great products in genius packaging. Their 2 mascaras ask, “What’s Your Type?” and provide 2 answers: Tall, Dark, and Handsome, and the one I have, The Body Builder. I like to have more voluminous lashes, and I find that this one does a pretty good job. For best results, I let it dry before adding a second coat. You can even apply it over a lengthening mascara for dual action lashes!

I really like this mascara! It was also great to have because it’s a sample size, which I think is the perfect size for a mascara…if only companies would make and sell them individually! The mascara is usually dried or expired before I get to put a real dent in it. This mascara retails for $19, but I don’t think I’d purchase it because I think drugstore mascaras are just as good at half of the price!

L’Oreal Voluminous Power Volume Collagen Mascara (Review, Before and After Photos)

One product that I will always get from the drugstore is mascara. Most mascara formulations are the same, the only thing different is the brush! I actually can’t remember the last time I bought a high end mascara. So, when I found this baby in my L’Oreal gift bag after their pre-Emmy suite I attended…I was smitten! My go-to mascara is Covergirl’s Lash Blast, but I usually am testing something else, because I can’t get stuck in a beauty rut! So, let’s see if this bargain passed the test!

Thee brush is your standard plastic fiber spoolie-type…but it’s bigger! I find that it helps it to grip my lashes really well, since the bristles are so close together. Since it’s a larger brush, it takes some finagling to get to my inner lashes; you can count lower lashes out, unless you like raccoon eyes! I find the brush far too large to get mascara on my bottom lashes without touching my skin, too. Let’s see it in action!

L'Oreal Voluminous Power Volume Collagen Before and After — Before and After

Yep, I LOVE this mascara. 1 coat is a perfect natural look with just a hint of volume, and 2 coats add a boost of curl and twice the volume. It can get clumpy over time, so be wary. I like to wiggle the brush through my lashes pretty slowly, repeating until I get the perfect look. If some lashes clump up, I use a lash comb or a spoolie brush to tame the clumps without adding any more product. I have to say…I might like this more than Lash Blast! When I’m not trying any new mascara (if that ever happens), I’ll have to repurchase this for sure!
