Things I Love #8: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

I think it’s time for a new picture…don’t you think?

When I went to BeautyCon, this little beauty was in my goody bag and I was very excited to try it. I already love Hourglass’ Opaque Rouge…so I was happy to try more from this brand.

This primer is AMAZING. It keeps my skin matte all day, which is hard for someone like me, who has super oily skin! I noticed this after just one use. That’s pretty much all I have to say about it…it’s just awesome and you need it. The only downfall is that the full size is $52…but if it works, it’s worth it! I just purchased it during the VIB sale for $20 off of a $50+ purchase, so I got it for a lot cheaper. I’m saving the full size until I run out of primers completely, because I want this to last as long as possible. But, who wouldn’t?

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil Review

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

I recently got DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil in a goodie bag, and I was so excited to try this product out, as I had yet to try a cleansing oil to remove makeup! You may have heard of people using olive oil or other oils to remove all of their makeup, which honestly didn’t work for me because it leaves an oily residue. What’s different about this product is that it includes an ingredient that helps the oil be completely removed when rinsed. The oil is applied dry to the face to scrub off any makeup, and once it touches water, it turns white and washes off completely. I find that this removes all of my makeup really well, except for mascara. Afterwards, my face feels silky smooth and moisturized. I’m a fan! The full 6.7 oz size (this is a 1 oz sample) retails for $28. I think once I run out I’m going to have to purchase the full size, or try a new oil!

LA Fashion Week: Backstage with Jouer Cosmetics for J. Mendel

Jouer Cosmetics for J. Mendel (Face Chart)

I was invited backstage to check out Jouer Cosmetics’ look for J.Mendel’s LA Fashion Week show, the Autumn Party. I met their makeup artist, Julie Morgan, who shared her face chart and spilled on some of the products used to achieve this bare beauty look, inspired by raw/unpolished beauty. She used their new & revolutionary Matte Moisture Tint, using their cream tints in bare and poppy to accentuate the cheeks and lips. The eye look was super simple with some creamy eyeshadows in suede and feather, with a thin liquid shimmer eyeliner in sable on the upper lash line. Things I Love #6: MAC Brush Cleanser

A necessity for any beauty junkie is brush cleaner. I wash my brushes after every use because I have acne prone skin and don’t want to risk putting dirty brushes on my face. I’d recommend anyone to wash their brushes after every use, because I know not many people do it. One of my favorite brush cleansers I’ve found is from MAC Cosmetics for $14.

MAC’s brush cleanser is 7.9 fluid ounces of product, which I transfer to spray bottles so it goes a LONG way!

And of course who can resist pink? Haha! This brush cleanser is perfect for cleaning your brushes because it’ll dry within a short amount of time, rather than deep cleaning your brushes with water. I find that this brush cleanser takes out any product stains and helps remove all noticeable product buildup (brushes have product buildup deeper inside the brush that can only be removed by deep cleaning monthly).
