I’ve always wanted to try It Cosmetics, a brand popular among a lot of bloggers. I received It Cosmetics Tightline Mascara Primer in a gift bag earlier this year and was super excited to try my first It Cosmetics product! This black tinted primer is essentially a mascara base coat that will act as a liner, filling in gaps in your lashes. I have the waterproof version, which is great on it’s own for a waterproof look. Since it’s black, this primer can easily be worn on it’s own. It contains lash enhancing ingredients to strengthen lashes. I find that this is primarily a separating and lengthening product, not a lot of volume is created by it. I add another mascara on top to provide volume.

In this photo, I’m wearing it on both my upper and lower lashes. I like the effect it gives, but I don’t think it cooperates as well as I’d like with other mascaras, as lashes tend to clump together. I had the same issue on my lower lashes, when I used it alone. The brush is super thin and makes it easy to apply to both upper and lower lashes. I haven’t pressed it against my lash line in an attempt to tightline, but I don’t really love that look on myself. I’m not sure if buying the waterproof formula is worth it, because it will only work if you use a waterproof mascara over it. I wore this under a mascara and on my lower lashes, and after cutting an onion my eyes were a mess! Overall I think this is a good product, but I’d stick with the non-waterproof formula, and experiment with different mascaras to see how it builds up.
