I stumbled across this lipstick randomly at work and fell in love. I always write down little notes of things that I am intrigued by and stash them in my bag for later viewing, haha! As you know, I’m obsessed with orange lips, so is this really a shock? I’ve actually never tried ANYTHING from Milani– shocking! But, I love finding drugstore brands that do bold colors, so I am loving it already!
Tangerine Tuesday #11: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color Lipstick in 24 Carrot Gold
If you have been reading my blog for a while, I did a post on two Wet n Wild lipsticks from this line, that I loved. In the post, I described how much I wanted this one and couldn’t find it anywhere! I finally found it at a random Rite Aid in Beverly Hills.
I just love this color! I was so excited when I snagged it for the great price of $1.99, and yes that is the regular price.
This color, like the others from this line that I’ve tried, are SUPER pigmented. 24 Carrot Gold is a great orange with a tinge of reddish pink that shows in certain lights.
Here is a swatch with my studio lights, that shows how orange it is. I freakin love this color!
Here is 24 Carrot Gold with flash- see the pinker tones in it now? It’s a great lipstick!
Overall I’d really recommend this lipstick. I love how Wet n Wild is able to use bright colors in their line while still being affordable!
MAC Hey Sailor Lipstick in Sail La Vie Review, Swatches
Recently MAC Cosmetics came out with a fun nautical-themed line that is perfect for summer. As soon as I saw swatches of this lipstick, I knew I had to have it! This is shockingly my first limited-edition packaged MAC lipstick (which is crazy, because I’m addicted to lipstick!). I’ve heard a lot of people hate the packaging and think it’s tacky, but I love it! (Different strokes for different folks I guess! Just like everyone LOVED the Wonder Woman collection’s packaging and I found it tacky…) Okay, ramble over! Onto the lipstick, this is a beauty blog after all.
The packaging is navy blue and white stripes with gold lettering. I love how the stripes go in different directions (horizontal and diagonal)- it adds a modern twist to the classic nautical stripe.
This lipstick is a reddish tangerine. In a lot of swatches it looked pure orange, which is what made me buy it! So be forewarned, it isn’t THAT orange but still gives the tangerine vibe. It may be great for those of you who swear by red lipstick and need a good transition to orange.
Sail La Vie is a satin formulation, which I really like. Satin is probably one of my favorite MAC lipstick finishes, because it is creamy with a tiny bit of natural shine.
Okay, here is the messy swatch. I need to start bringing a mirror down to my studio lights, sheesh! Anyways, the look of it doesn’t matter, it’s the color that matters. A perfect red-orange. This is very flattering on a lot of yellow-toned people such as myself. I find orange toned shades to be a lot more forgiving for those of us without blinding white teeth! As you can see it is very evenly applied without any splotches, which I love!
Here are the ingredients, which aren’t the easiest to read, but it’s still a list, since MAC doesn’t really post those online and are different for every shade.
Grab Sail La Vie for $15.50 at MAC stores, online, or at a MAC Counter near you.
Overall I really like this lipstick. Let me know in the comments if you have it or any other products from the collection!
