If you follow me on instagram @oliviafrescura, you may have seen this photo I posted on Thursday of Sophia Amoruso, Courtney Love, and myself at the launch party/meet and greet of the new Nasty Gal & Courtney Love collaboration. I had seen on twitter that they were hosting this event & I knew my sister Victoria and I had to go. We *love* Hole because of our Dad (we used to listen to the CDs in the car on the way to elementary school…), and we all saw her perform at the Hollywood Bowl last year opening for Lana Del Rey. But, meeting her would be even better!

So- we headed there early so we could be one of the first 100 in line (they promised free tiaras so it was necessary). Thankfully there wasn’t much of a crowd so we were one of the first 10-15 in line. So, we just chilled in line as we were a little less than 2 hours early. We were starving, so, naturally, we ordered Prime Pizza to be delivered to us in the line via Postmates. Genius. (P.S. Use my code nysbd for $10 in free credit towards delivery fees for both you and me!)
Then, several people came out handing us tiaras, cake, and water before the event even started which I thought was great- especially to keep those further in the back happy! This prompted many photos…We had brought all 3 of our dad’s CDs just in case we could get at least one of them signed.
The window was decorated with cakes, mannequins wearing the line, and a cute Love Courtney neon sign. After we got our tiaras & cake, we asked some random behind us in line to take our photo. For the memories, obviously. 💁🏻
We didn’t have to wait long at all once the event started- they only allowed one photo, but since I was with my sister she got this great candid one of us as well. I felt bad because on your phone they literally only snapped one photo, and in my sister’s one nobody is smiling except her! But, I got some candid ones that helped. It was honestly a really rushed meet & greet and didn’t leave a lot of time for talking, which was alright- but my sister gave Courtney our Dad’s Celebrity Skin CD & she signed it- success!
We browsed around the store (I’ve never been) & checked out some of the line. They have a lot of cute stuff in both the Courtney Love collaboration & the regular line, but obviously I wouldn’t fit into any of it. But, my sister tried some things on & they all looked great. Side note: the Nasty Gal Melrose dressing rooms are HUGE and the door is a two-way mirror which is both cool & kind of creepy. But mostly cool.
After we left, we grabbed some food at one of my favorite places, The Bun Shop, and on the way we went through Nasty Gal’s snapchat to see what they wound up posting. I was watching & then all of a sudden I realized- hey, that’s me! I had to watch it maybe 10 times to get the best screenshot. So funny. Did any of you guys see me?!
Needless to say it was quite the eventful Thursday. Unfortunately my sister was leaving to go back to college the next day- so it really couldn’t have been at a better time! It was *the* most fun.
P.S. The #NastyGalxCourtneyLove collaboration is live on the site + in stores now. Shop away for major 90s grunge vibes…
