The GLAMGLOW PoutMud Fizzy Lip Treatment & Wet Lip Balm Treatment ($39) is a new duo meant to transform your pout from dry & flaky to hydrated and kissable. It features both and exfoliator & a balm so you don’t need anything else to get smooth lips- it’s all here!
The treatments are housed in the same packaging- like a silver ball. It’s super reflective, as you can see my reflection taking the photo! The packaging is definitely fun but a bit bulkier than the balms you’re used to- but there’s a ton of product in there (25 grams in each one!)
The Fizzy Lip Exfoliating Treatment contains cane sugar, sea salt, and hibiscus flower powder to exfoliate. There’s also sweet almond oil to moisturize. But, what makes it fizz? They use a combination of citric acid + baking soda to have a fizzing effect on the lips. Yes, the same ingredients that go into a bath bomb!
I feel like this was a good idea in theory, but the combination of the citric acid, baking soda, and sea salt give it an overwhelmingly unpleasant taste. Although I think this was a clever idea, the execution doesn’t do it for me as I don’t enjoy using it just because of the bad taste. I also think it leaves an uncomfortably oily residue on the lips as well, which just isn’t necessary because they made the balm treatment too.
Next up, we have the Wet Lip Balm Treatment. This balm is super thick like vaseline but has ingredients that will actually hydrate instead of coat your lips. It has sweet almond oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, murumuru butter, tamanu oil & babassu oil combined with a sweet Moroccan minty flavor.
I like this one much more- it does make your lips look wet as it is very hydrating & has a lot of oils. I like it at night because it has so many hydrating ingredients and the thick consistency helps it last all night. I think the minty flavor isn’t my favorite as it tends to burn the lips, which is a feeling I prefer not to have unless I’m trying to plump them.
So, I’d recommend the balm if you like a minty lip, but skip the exfoliator. The good thing about this is Sephora actually stocks these separately online, so you don’t have to buy them as a set (even though it’s a better deal). I love GLAMGLOW as a brand, but this one hits the mark. I have my eye on GravityMud next…I want it SO BAD!
