I was recently sent some Elizabeth Arden makeup- and I honestly don’t even think I knew that they made color cosmetics, as they are known for their skincare. So, I was pleasantly surprised opening this package. I was sent their new Grand Entrance Mascara ($24) along with 4 shades of their Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick ($25).
The Grand Entrance Mascara promises an increase in volume, length, and curl thanks to its innovative precision brush. Unfortunately I didn’t like this mascara- although it was very black- I found the brush to be too pokey, making it easy to stab yourself in the eye. That happened to me twice, resulting in mascara everywhere! The mascara is also a little clumpy for me, because the brush tip holds too much product. I’ve given it a few chances but every time I’m unhappy with my lashes. In order to get a desirable effect I have to go very light-handed, but I prefer a more dramatic look.
The Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick comes in 38 shades, varying from nudes, pinks, reds, oranges, and satin and shimmery finishes. I was sent 4 shades, swatched above: Pink Pink, Marigold, Valentine, and Wild Berry. The lipsticks have a nice formula- lightweight and not too “wet” feeling, but not dry and matte. These shades aren’t necessarily up my alley as I usually opt for mattes- but I do like Wild Berry. They do have more brown toned nudes that are more up my alley, along with 8 shades of matte lipsticks that I’d probably like better. For those who like nourishing lipsticks or don’t like the look of matte- you will enjoy these!
Overall I’m not too enthusiastic about the line yet, but I think that’s entirely due to finding the right products for me- and, I still really want to try their skincare!
