best oval brush

In the past year or so, oval makeup brushes have really become a *thing* in the beauty industry. But, Artis has been making the most luxe oval brushes for years. So, I wanted to try the OG and see how it stacked up. I already liked an affordable off-brand version of the oval brush, but the Artis Elite Gold Oval 7 Brush…I LOVE.

The first thing- the fact that this brush is ✨GOLD✨ is everything, because I’m a gold girl at heart, and most brushes are always in silver (although brands have been stepping it up with gold & rose gold options since they are trendy). The fact that this is plated in real 24k gold makes it just that much more special.

The brushes are made with CosmeFibre, a synthetic (vegan friendly!) fiber created for cosmetic application. The Oval 7 Brush is great because it’s a perfect size for foundation where it’s not too large and not too small. With some of the larger oval brushes, I feel like it would be hard to get into the crevices by your eyes and nose.

The brush is super dense, so it blends beautifully to create a full-coverage finish. I’ve experienced zero shedding & the handle is super ergonomic I like how this brush blends out creamier products like cream foundation or stick foundation. I’ve even used it to pack on some powder as well. I typically use a beauty blender as a finishing touch, to create an airbrushed effect and blend out under eye concealer.

The brush isn’t available on the Artis site right now, because I believe it was limited edition. You can find it on Anthropologie’s site, however, which I linked above. If you don’t mind getting the Elite Silver Oval 7, you can get it for $62 on Artis’ site instead of the $75 that the gold costs. It may be a spendy brush, but, to me, it’s worth it! I’ve been seeing these oval style makeup brushes ALL over the internet, so I have been so curious to try one myself. Bdellium Tools came out with their 950 Oval Multipurpose Brush, which is a great brush to apply and blend foundation- and only for $15!

I am converted- I’ve changed my foundation routine from a sponge to this brush and I’m loving it. I feel like these brushes are ideal for foundation sticks, as the formula works a bit better with a brush than a sponge. I hope they come out with more oval brushes- I’m super curious to try more- a slightly bigger size perhaps.

You can’t really go wrong with this brush. I love this brand and have quite a few of their brushes and definitely recommend them because they’re both high-performing and super affordable.
