I recently got my hair cut pretty short and although I needed it dyed, I didn’t really want to shell out a ton of money for them to dye such little hair! So, just at the right time, my friend Sarah from FierceFelineChic posted a video about eSalon, showing how she dyed her hair. She offered a 50% off link, so I decided to try it out myself…and I thought I’d share my first home hair dye experience with you all!
I was pretty impressed with my first eSalon experience- it was fairly easy with the provided instructions, and I got my package in record timing- 2 days!
When you receive the kit, there are personal instructions along with everything you need to dye you hair: from the dye, brushes, and even rubber gloves.
As you can see, they custom make everything for you based on what you pick. My color I chose was Darkest Brown (Natural Golden) with Natural Golden Gloss. When I did the quiz on the website, I selected that my main concern was covering greys, so the dye is for my roots, and the gloss is for my ends.
As you can see in the video, the hair dying process was fairly easy- which says a lot from a newbie! It wasn’t too messy at all, but it took a little practice to get the process down. Applying the color the traditional way didn’t work with my super short layers, so I had to make do with what I had, but thankfully there was plenty of dye, so I really just had to make sure I coated all of my individual hairs.
Overall, I’d really recommend the service because it’s very convenient. Since I got mine for 50% off, it was only about $15.95 to ship it. I’d probably try it again sometime, but I’m not completely sure because I like to try a lot of new things! Traditionally the hair dye set costs $24.95, which is just a small fraction of the amount you’d pay at a hair salon in Los Angeles!
