PBJ.LA at Grand Central Market, Downtown Los Angeles

I need to get back into blogging what to do around LA. I always just tend to share on my instagram in the moment, but I know that tons of you aren’t LA locals, but may want to figure out where to go when you visit LA (aka not the Hollywood Walk of Fame). Anyways, enough of the rant…DTLA’s Grand Central Market has been adding a lot of fun new vendors, including PBJ.LA. They opened a few months back and I knew I had to try their reimagined peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. The best part? They’re crustless. So yes, a fancy uncrustable.

They have various types of sandwiches, all with high quality nut butters and artisanal jams. The word nut butter really makes me cringe…but it is what it is. They’re all housemade and organic as well. They have both classic and reimagined flavors, including savory options like The Italian (Toasted pine nut butter with sage, basil cherry tomato jam, arugula, EVOO, balsamic).

I’m a basic bitch and just got something simple: The Old School ($5) with Strawberry Jam (Peanut Butter, Strawberry or Grape Jam).

They also have drinks, including various flavored almond milks and some purple potato chips on the side.

I liked the sandwich, but it’s honestly not much different from an actual uncrustable, besides being organic & fresh, the taste is essentially the same. But, I always think it’s worth a try!

BOMANE Salon in Beverly Hills

BOMANE is a new (to me) salon in Beverly Hills that I just visited this week and has become an instant favorite. Hair salons are such a personal thing to me (and I’m sure, you all too!). A lot of the times when visiting new salons, if either the people that work there or the overall vibe of the salon is off just a little bit, I find that I’m more likely to have a subpar experience. How many times do I have to show photos of Lucy Hale’s blunt lob to wind up with…not that? Don’t even get my started on my botched balayage from last year. Anyways…I have trust issues when it comes to hair, and all of that went out the window when I walked into BOMANE.

BOMANE was founded by Sonny Henty and Andrea Jaclyn- a duo that both have a passion for creating a one of a kind experience for each of their clients. A lot of care went into the salon, from maintaining the historical building’s exposed brick walls to the fact that there are actual CRYSTALS built into all of the walls. Also, there’s a personal styling room that’s meant for those with different religious backgrounds that can’t have men see their hair, or…celebrities…because LA. They also stock great hair product lines…including SHOW Beauty and Davines.

I had my blowout done by Alysa Pace, who was probably the perfect match for me because she read my mind as far as what I wanted, and, we got along great. I must say I haven’t had such good vibes while getting my hair done, but, maybe that’s the crystals or complimentary rosé talking…😏 I just got some beachy waves done, but, I had another event right after and totally spaced on taking a photo…but believe me, I looked great. 💁🏻

Needless to say, BOMANE has a new fan with me, maybe you’ll see me there taking pictures for instagram even if I’m not getting my hair done! 😂 But, I’ll definitely be needing a cut and color ASAP!

New Sephora Store at Westfield Century City Opens Today!

There’s a new Sephora in town, and it’s open today at the Westfield Century City Mall. I was invited to take a first glance at their new digs and be one of the first to shop!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer in 3 sizes

I definitely picked up the Jumbo Size 2 oz Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer in the tube. I ran out of my pump on way too soon! It seems like a hefty price to pay, but you get twice the amount of the regular size, for only $21 more.

Something new that I have added to my wishlist is the OUAI Rosé Hair & Body Oil- mostly for body…I love the scent and it feels amazing! I love body oils.

What a bunch of brand-new NARS lipsticks look like

One thing about a new Sephora means new testers…ALL the brand new lipsticks to play with! Being the first one to swatch something is an exhilarating experience, I must say…

A new brand I’ve spotted at this Sephora is Natasha Denona- known for her glittery eyeshadow formula. I don’t know if the brand is at any other Sephoras, but this is the first time I’m seeing it in stores! I typically go to the Sephora at The Grove, which actually has a lot fewer brands than the Century City one, it seems…

The Westfield Century City Sephora is spacious and houses a ton of brands, from typical favorites, to brands you don’t see at all Sephoras like Tom Ford, new brand Pretty Vulgar, and the aforementioned Natasha Denona. If you’re in the area, the store is definitely worth checking out. It’s situated right across from a Sugarfina, which means you can pick up your beauty products and candy in the same trip. 😉

Alfred Coffee in West Hollywood

I recently re-visited Alfred Coffee on Melrose Place and thought it would make a perfect blog post. It wasn’t until I started planning this post out that I realized I posted a blog on Alfred exactly one year and one day ago (😱). Anyways, I usually prefer going to local coffee shops instead of huge chains, just because the coffee is usually better, you’re supporting a small business, and, usually…they are much more instagrammable. 😂

Alfred’s new neon sign definitely fits the bill there…but, even over a year late their coffee still stands out. This time I tried their nutella danish which was pretty amazing- it has nutella, whole hazelnuts, and then some sort of mixture of the two inside of a croissant-like pastry. I strayed away from it at first because I thought it would have cream cheese (no pastries should have cheese). But, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I still got their most-popular Vanilla Iced Latte (they say almond milk is the milk of choice), but I prefer the dairy. I think their other locations are on my list next, because they all seem to have their own character. Salt & Straw Ice Cream

I’ve been dying to try Salt & Straw Ice Cream for what seems like ages. I just always forgot! This week I was in the Arts District with my friend Haley, and it was a nice spring sunny day in LA, so we decided to stop in for a scoop at their newest location Downtown. Salt & Straw is woman owned (yas queen), and offer artisinal small batch ice cream with unique flavors. 🍦

Since it was my first time going, I had no clue what to get. But, when I laid my eyes on a flavor called “Pots of Gold & Rainbows,” I knew I had to have it, because that sounded a hell of a lot like Lucky Charms. And I LOVE cereal flavored ice creams, (i.e. Sprinkles Ice Cream and Momofuku Milk Bar) so that was a no-brainer for me. Lucky Charms cereal milk turned into ice cream, with whole Lucky Charms Marshmallows sprinkled in. I’ll admit, I love anything sweet (I literally got 6 fillings hours before eating this), but this one was very rich so one scoop will do ya! I loved it though.

Salt & Straw has 5 locations in LA, several in Portland, and are coming soon to San Francisco- churning up a storm across the west coast not stopping anytime soon! I’ll definitely be going back, but only when I’m after me Lucky Charms. 😂 Just kidding- I’m sure there are plenty more flavors I’d like!
