Every year (since I can remember) I make my grandparents recipe for Pizzelle cookies for Christmas. I’ve been wanting to share this recipe for a while, but I just got permission from my Grandma, so I decided to do the whole shebang and do a little baking vlog so you can see the process!
I’ve always wanted to be “cool” enough to do Vlogmas, but as someone with a full time job my days are definitely not that interesting to record that often…anyways- I’m on a little break until the new year to enjoy the holidays, so I thought I’d make the most of it by posting more content! Watch the video to see the full process, or read on if you just want the recipe!
Pizzelles
makes ~90 cookies
- 3/4 cup melted crisco
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp Nielsen Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp anise oil (not extract)
- 6 eggs
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3 1/2 tsp baking powder
Beat eggs until frothy (I use my KitchenAid). Add sugar, all flavorings (including juice), and milk and mix. Add melted shortening and butter. Then, add flour in small batches and beat until smooth. Drop by teaspoon onto hot pizzelle iron.
I hope some of you find this recipe fun- it’s nice to try if you just so happen to have a pizzelle iron laying around! 😉
