GOLD Sheet Masks

Gold…sheet masks? Yes, you read that right. Ever since spotting the Estée Lauder Powerfoil sheet mask, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of a gold version of the foil sheet mask. Then, once the Met Gala happened and I spotted Kate Hudson & Gucci Westman wearing gold foil sheet masks, I had to track them down.

After some research, it’s no surprise that they’re Korean! Meet the AHC Hydra Gold Foil Mask. I got mine on Amazon, around $30 for a 5 pack.

The mask includes 24 karat gold, hylauronic acid, and ginkgo biloba. It comes in two pieces, with a mesh that covers the white sheet you put on your face, with the gold on the outside to look like midas himself has touched your soul. It doesn’t surprise me that the brand is called Aesthetic Hydration Cosmetics, because this is both aesthetically pleasing and hydrating in one. Most sheet masks fare well for me, as they are usually pretty hydrating. But, I really liked this one…but, it may be a gold placebo affect. I thought it smoothed & firmed my skin quite a bit. I had zero irritation, which isn’t something I can say for a lot of skincare products lately…

If you’re a fan of sheet masks, things that are gold, or you just want a fun selfie for instagram, these are definitely worth checking out!

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant Review

I have a hard time with a lot of skincare products because I have such reactive skin. Even some of my former favorite cleansers, exfoliators, and moisturizers have been leaving my skin red and tingly. So, I’ve honestly been extremely wary about trying new skincare products. However, I’ve been a fan of the Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid for a few years, having first reviewed it in 2014.

A few months ago I started using it again, remembering how much I loved it. Until tragedy struck…I drunkenly knocked it into the toilet.

My girl HeyAprill always sings it’s praises too, and she hooked it up with a new bottle post-toilet disaster. So, what does this magic liquid do? This chemical exfoliant uses salicylic acid to slough off dead skin cells, unclogs pores, aids in acne treatment & prevention, and can help diminish fine lines and wrinkles.

I put this baby back into rotation, and not just for my face. I also use it on my underarms to lighten them, and…my vagina…for lack of a better word, for ingrown hair maintenance. I can’t say it’s an authorized use of the product, but it really works! You just have to be careful. When used on the face, I wake up with baby smooth & tightened skin. I use it no more than every other day, just because I don’t want to exfoliate too much. I recommend using the Shiseido Facial Cotton, because they are gentle & lint-free.

If you’ve yet to try the product, I highly recommend it and think it could suit all skin types, as dry skin needs exfoliation just as much as oily skin does!

Julep K-Beauty Double Cleansing 101 Essentials

Julep Hydrating Cleansing Oil, Cleansing Stick, Konjac Sponge

It’s no secret that I love cleansing oils…I actually stopped using foaming cleansers (for the most part) about a year and a half ago. I just love a nice cleanser that removes makeup + cleanses skin at the same time. So, when Julep sent over their K-Beauty Double Cleansing 101 Set ($68), I was thrilled to see a cleansing oil included! This set includes 3 Korean beauty inspired skincare products to do a double cleanse, which takes a lot more (well, double), the effort that I’m used to, but ensures your skin is clean as a whistle!

The Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Cleansing Oil ($28) is the product I was most excited for. Featuring both Grapeseed and Olive oils, the cleansing oil really does remove every last bit of makeup. I will say it leaves a slight residue on my skin, which is why the double cleanse is important!

The Love Your Bare Face Detoxifying Cleansing Stick ($28) is super cool because it’s not often that you see a cleanser in stick form. It can be especially helpful for travel, as it’s not a liquid! This cleansing stick blends fruit enzymes and natural oils to remove skin impurities. This is a foaming cleanser, which I typically don’t use, but I did test it out. It left my skin feeling a bit stripped, so I make sure to add in some extra moisture in my skincare routine after using it.

Lastly, the Julep Charcoal Konjac Sponge ($12) is probably my favorite Konjac sponge I’ve tried thus far. I love it because it comes with a suction cup hook that you can put on your bathroom mirror or shower wall to hang it to dry. I love this for occasional exfoliation and to remove stubborn face masks!

If you had to buy anything, I’d suggest the sponge + oil the most. But, all three are cool products, I just can’t really use foaming cleanser regularly. Although, I experienced zero irritation with these products, which, for me lately, is saying a lot…I have been having so many issues with skincare products lately that I’ve been so nervous to try new products out, but these were all winners for me!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

One of my most anticipated Glossier products that I was dying to try is the Milky Jelly Cleanser. I love a good cleanser that removes makeup (in fact, it’s all I use), so I wanted to see how this stacks up to some of my favorites. I was working at a skincare company the time this came out, and I always used their cleanser (and got it for free) so I hesitated on buying this one until I was a rep & was at a different job.

Milky Jelly Cleanser uses rosewater, Poloxamer (a cleansing agent used in contact solution), and Comfrey Root Extract to remove makeup & nourish skin. Upon first use, I was surprised at how thick & jelly like it is- so the name is fitting.

I had to get used to how thick it was (moreso than other cleansers & oils I use), but it truly does remove every last bit of makeup (unless you’re wearing waterproof, which I don’t).  The thing I noticed most when I started using it was how incredibly SOFT it made my skin upon first use- I woke up the next day with baby-smooth skin. I got my sister to order it as well, and she made the same comment!

The only thing is that I use a lot of it & go through it quickly. I’ve had it for about a month and it’s already halfway gone, but it isn’t super expensive so I think it’s worth it.

MultiMisting With Pixi Beauty Facial Mists

Everyone is seemingly obsessed with makeup sprays these days- whether they be floral waters or for setting makeup, there’s a mist for almost anything. Pixi Beauty has a huge collection of mists on their site and recently sent over a few for me to try. I love the Pixi mists because the mister is so good- it’s a fine mist and doesn’t leave your face covered in huge droplets.

Glow Mist features Propolis & Argan Oil for a glowy & dewy look. I’ve had this spray for a while, so it’s nice to have a backup. I love how the oil separates and you get to shake it up before giving it a spray!

Makeup Fixing Mist is meant to set makeup and features Rose Water and Green Tea. To me, this one smells like my Great Grandma (RIP), which is interesting nostalgic. So, some may find the scent to be a bit off-putting but I don’t mind it.

The newest one to the collection is the Vitamin Wakeup Mist, which features Orange Blossom & Citrus Extracts. I was super excited for this one because I love anything with orange blossom, but it smells like regular oranges to me and not the flower. The smell of this one is kind of addictive though, and probably my favorite scent from the bunch.

Last but not least, the Hydrating Milky Mist is their ultimate moisturizing mist with Hyaluronic Acid & Black Oat to rejuvenate skin. I like this one because it’s white- I’m easy to please. I have used this one the most out of all of them, because I have also had this in my collection already!

The fun doesn’t stop there- you don’t only have to limit yourselves to misting your face with these… although who can say no to drenching their face in setting spray?

I also use these to wet brushes before applying an eyeshadow wet, to refresh my skin on a sunny day, or during my skincare routine. All of these mists are only $15 a piece, so you won’t break the bank catching them all…
