I stumbled across this lipstick randomly at work and fell in love. I always write down little notes of things that I am intrigued by and stash them in my bag for later viewing, haha! As you know, I’m obsessed with orange lips, so is this really a shock? I’ve actually never tried ANYTHING from Milani– shocking! But, I love finding drugstore brands that do bold colors, so I am loving it already!
If you have been reading my blog for a while, I did a post on two Wet n Wild lipsticks from this line, that I loved. In the post, I described how much I wanted this one and couldn’t find it anywhere! I finally found it at a random Rite Aid in Beverly Hills.
I just love this color! I was so excited when I snagged it for the great price of $1.99, and yes that is the regular price.
This color, like the others from this line that I’ve tried, are SUPER pigmented. 24 Carrot Gold is a great orange with a tinge of reddish pink that shows in certain lights.
Here is a swatch with my studio lights, that shows how orange it is. I freakin love this color!

Overall I’d really recommend this lipstick. I love how Wet n Wild is able to use bright colors in their line while still being affordable!
Covergirl’s Lash Blast Volume mascara is definitely one of the most hyped mascara’s I’ve ever seen! This is my second tube of it, and I love it. This packaging is special for the Olympics, so that is why it’s white instead of orange! This mascara promises “mega volume,” and it definitely delivers! I got the shade “Black” or #805.
The brush to this mascara is orange plastic spikes. I don’t normally like these types of brushes but I do with this mascara.
The brush with the mascara shows tons of short “prongs” I’ll call them, to coat each of your lashes. Now, onto the real review! Before and after shots!
My lashes kind of just stick straight out with the slightest curl, so I like to curl them ALWAYS before applying mascara.
Here is what my curled eyelashes look like…much better. Now onto 1 and 2 coats of mascara for the “after.”
I feel like the first coat adds primarily length with a little bit of volume. It still looks pretty natural. I waited until this coat was dry to apply my second coat.
After 2 coats my lashes are nice and voluminous and a good length. I love this mascara! It can get a bit clumpy, so user beware. This is my first time using that bottle so I didn’t have any huge issues with it! I would definitely recommend!
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics is launching their Fall 2012 color line on August 1st, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to try their new Moulin Rouge palette to review for you guys.
Youngblood is drawing inspiration from nude looks on the runways for their fall 2012 collection, which includes this palette, an Incredible Wear Gel Liner in Sienna, Lip Liner Pencil in Au Naturel, and Lipstick in Blushing Nude.
This quad features Can-Can, a shimmery caramel, Revue, a pearl vanilla, Cabarets, a dark chocolate, and Red Light, a matte red-orange. My favorite colors are definitely Revue and Cabarets, because they are the most suitable to my skin tone.
As you can see, Revue is the most shimmery shade. Can-Can has a little sheen, while, to me, both Cabarets and Red Light are matte. Cabarets is said to have a light red shimmer, but I couldn’t detect it. They are all very pigmented, but Red Light has the least pigmentation.
The palette is a nice black plastic with a magnetic closure, which I like. It’s a very simple package.
As soon as I got this palette, I wanted to take off my current eyeshadow and redo it with the colors. So, here’s what I came up with. I put Revue on my lid, Can-Can on my outer half, Cabarets in the crease, and Red Light as a liner both on my top and bottom lash lines. I topped it off with Kat Von D lipstick in Adora lipstick with Youngblood’s Mighty Shiny Lip Gel in Displayed, which I reviewed here.
I found the shadows easy to work with overall. I’m just not too sure that it is very flattering on my eyes, since I typically prefer cooler shades- so Revue and Cabarets are my favorite shadows. But, I think the look turned out nice. If I had to make one comment on the palette, I’d probably say that I wish Revue showed up more shimmery on my eyes, it looks a lot different than it does in my swatch earlier in this post.
Youngblood’s Fall line, including this palette, will be available as of August 1st, 2012. This palette retails for $43.00.

NYX Cosmetics is a really fun brand that has an array of colors for a great price. Their powder blush in Cinnamon has easily become one of my favorite orange blushes- and the $6 price tag is more than reasonable. Do I think this name is appropriate for the color? Not so much…but who cares! This just shows that you can make a great looking blush for anyone- even those who can’t afford higher end brands. I wish more mass brands incorporated orange- it isn’t as scary as it seems! In my opinion, orange is the new red.
Don’t be frightened- this blush’s bark is bigger than it’s bite. It applies at the perfect opacity so you don’t end up with clown cheeks. (Makeup PET PEEVE!) There was this girl in my high school that wore bright orange blush striped from her nose to her temple, pretty much. Yikes! I like to apply blush with an angled contour brush, such as the Sigma F40 to get the perfect look. If you apply your blush too harshly, blend it out using your powder brush so you don’t deposit any more color to your cheeks!
