MAC Nightmoth Lip Pencil Review & Swatches

With fall comes dark lip colors, of course, so this year I decided to up my lip liner game by purchasing MAC Nightmoth Lip Pencil. I found that my burgundy lips were a bit sloppy, so I decided to pick this up to make them more sharp. I have always heard great things about Nightmoth in particular, so I decided to grab it to pair with some of my fave dark lippies: MAC Media, MAC Cyber and MAC Fixed On Drama (just to name a few).

When I went to the MAC store, the sales associate kept trying to get me to purchase “Vino” lip pencil instead because I was so fair, but I’m glad I picked up Nightmoth because it’s the perfect shade. I’m not afraid of wearing dark colors, so if you are the same way, pick up Nightmoth…Vino is redder. This is my first MAC lip liner so I didn’t know what to expect!

I find that it’s great for applying a crisp line at the edges of my lips, much better than lipstick. I fill in my lips with it as well so I don’t have a “chola” lip look after my lipstick wears of. It does cling to dry patches a bit more than your regular lipstick, because it is a drier formula, but that makes it long wearing. I really love this lip pencil right now because it has made my dark lips much easier (and last longer). You won’t regret spending the extra $15 to get double the wear out of your dark lips!

In my opinion, your eyebrows can make or break your face. I have seen many gorgeous girls that are maimed by having over plucked, sharpie colored eyebrows. For myself, I don’t feel like I am completely done up without having my eyebrows filled in. I’ve recently changed up my brow routine and have gotten so many compliments on my look, I just had to share it with you!

My bold brows are done in 3 simple steps!

Outline the shape of your brow using brow powder. (I use Anastasia’s Brow Pro Palette, but check out Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo because you don’t need that many shades!)
Fill inside the lines with brow powder.
Set hairs in place with clear brow gel. (I use Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. This brow gel makes my brows stay in place all day!)

Some of my favorite eyebrow products are by Anastasia Beverly Hills. They really know how to do brows well!

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Highlighter Review

I haven’t used too many Benefit products for some reason, so I was pretty excited that they were Sephora’s birthday gift this year (which included Watt’s Up & They’re Real! Mascara samples). I’ve been very into highlighting this year, especially using cream products. One of my old favorites is their High Beam, which gives a gorgeous glow. Benefit Watt’s Up is a cream to powder highlighter stick that is perfect for giving a glow all over the face. I like to highlight my cheekbones the most, but occasionally I’ll highlight my cupids bow and bridge of my nose.

Watt’s Up is a super shimmery gold shade, that is almost rose gold. I like the cream to powder formulation because it’s easy to apply both before and after powder.

Once blended out, it gives a beautiful champagne glow. I find that this product is about a shade darker than my skin, so it’s not the perfect highlighter for me, but I still use it. I can just add a powder highlighter on afterwards.

In the photo above I’m wearing Watt’s Up on my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow (above lip), and brow bones. I definitely like it best on the cheeks & cupid’s bow. I’m not a fan of shimmer on the brow bone, so I’d skip it there. Overall I think it’s a decent highlighter, but I definitely wouldn’t purchase the full size just because it’s too dark for me. I do love the formula, though. Check it out if you’re a bit darker than me. October Beauty Box 5 Review

I’ve recently partnered with Beauty Box 5 to do reviews on their monthly subscription box! I received the October one pretty late last month, so I decided to skip doing a video and will do one for this month’s box (which I’ve already received). If you’re unfamiliar, Beauty Box 5 is a $12 a month subscription box where you will receive 5 beauty samples straight to your door! I’m pretty impressed with it from the first box because the samples are a great size- no foil packet samples here! Let’s see what I think of the products in the October box:

October Beauty Box 5 Toe Separators — Swissco Glitter Toe Separators

First, there are red glitter toe separators from Swissco. I’m not a huge fan of toe separators, so this wasn’t an impressive product to me, personally. But it’s a cute gift to give someone else!

October Beauty Box 5 La Fresh Facial Cleansing Wipes — La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes

Next up, we have La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes. I always like getting wipes in boxes because they are a must have! I tried these out and don’t think they are the best for removing makeup, but they are very soothing.

October Beauty Box 5 Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion — Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

From Aveeno, we got their Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This little bottle (similar to what you’d find for $1 at a drugstore) is perfect for travel or keeping in your purse. I find that it is on par with some of my favorite lotions but has a very subtle almond scent. I prefer highly fragrant lotions, but I still liked how my skin felt after using this on my legs.

October Beauty Box 5 Nubar Blondie Nail Polish — Nubar Blondie Nail Polish

Next up from Nubar, we have Blondie nail polish from their Alter Ego collection. It’s a bunch of iridescent glitter in an orangey brown base. I’ve yet to try it but I’ll do a separate post on it once I get the chance to try it! This mini bottle is perfect, because who ever runs out of full nail polish bottles?

October Beauty Box 5 Model Co Lip Enhancer Kit Nude Lipliner — Model Co Lip Enhancer Kit Nude Lipliner

Last but certainly not least, we received Model Co.’s Illusion Lip Enhancer Kit. This is a nude pencil intended for drawing outside the line of your lips to create whatever shape you want, but I’m simply using it as a lip liner. This full size item retails for $20, so that pays for your box and more. The nude color is very wearable, even for someone who hates nude lips like I do.

On the lips, it is a pretty dry and waxy feeling lip pencil, which in my opinion is a great thing because it will last a long time. I didn’t think I’d like this at first, but I am surprisingly impressed. I also love the built in sharpener in the cap!

That does it for the October Beauty Box 5, but in a few days I’ll be posting the November one- I just really wanted to post this one, even though it’s late! I am pretty impressed with this service so far- I think it has a great mix of beauty products!

Orange lip stains are probably one of the hardest orange products out there to find. I spotted NYC’s Smooch Proof Lip Stain in Orange On The Go a few months ago and snatched it up as soon as I saw it. I find that a lot of orange lip stains look orange at first, but then change to a hot pink for some reason. Thankfully, Orange On The Go stays orange! I love the formula of these NYC lip stains, they’re probably the best lip stains I’ve ever tried. And who can beat the price of $4.99?

When swatched, it isn’t a bright orange at all. It’s a very wearable peachy coral. It’s not too bold and in your face like some orange lipsticks can be, so if you’re scared of the orange trend, start with this product!

It swatches a bit darker on the lips, but it still has those orange undertones. I’m a big fan of this in the spring and summer, but it’s still worth checking out now! You can find it at drugstores (I found mine at Target).
