Los Angeles’ First Hair Extension Bar, Just Extensions!

Last night I headed to LA’s first hair extensions-only bar, Just Extensions, for a soiree hosted by Queen of the Quarter Life Crisis, Jamie Stone. I was excited to check out the space, meet new friends, and learn all about Sexy Hair’s products that are a perfect for extension maintenance. The interior is beautiful! It reminds me of Drybar.

Stylist Laura Hickenboth told us all about the various types of extensions, and then showed us all of Sexy Hair’s products that work perfectly for maintaining and styling  hair, including extensions! She has clip in extensions, don’t they match her hair perfectly?

There were 3 fab models displaying 3 of the extension techniques that JE offers! I didn’t know there were that many options!

“Just Pretty”- Partial Braided Sew In Extensions

First we have the “Just Pretty,” which is a partial braided sew in extension. These can last for up to 2 months, and are a safe option because there are no glues, waxes, or clips applied to the hair, it is sewn into a braid with a needle and nylon thread. It also promotes hair growth!

“Just Beautiful” – 1 Step Weft

The “Just Beautiful,” is a bit hard to see, but it is similar to what we just saw, but a braidless extension option. This extension is attached using beads, and then sewing a weft of hair on top.

“Just Gorgeous” – Micro Bead & Keratin Links

The “Just Gorgeous,” has two different types of techniques. On the left, micro beads are used to crimp extension into the hair. If you used to have a feather extension (don’t be ashamed, I had one too!), this is the same technique as that! This one can last up to 4 months and doesn’t include any type of glues or bonders, it’s simply crimped with the bead. On the right, we have keratin tips, which are done with wax and bonded with heat. These ones need to be professionally removed, though, but it is the fastest and simplest extension technique.

We went home with a gift bag chock-full of Sexy Hair products that stylist Lauren recommends for extensions, although they will work great on regular hair as well! I can’t wait to try everything! Beauty blogger perks…once one runs out of shampoo, a new one (or three) appears in a gift bag!

I chatted with Sydne from Sydne Style, host Jamie, and Leah (and Mary, not pictured) from A Fab Life in front of the closet of hair extensions- you can also buy hair by itself at Just Extensions. Jamie was wearing some clip in extensions that I thought were her real hair because they were that good of a match!

Last night I attended Aloxxi’s event at Stylehaüs at The Grove in LA. I couldn’t miss this event because I love The Grove, first of all, and with my new short hair, I’m always down to try something new! Aloxxi was celebrating the launch of their new styling products that I received to try, so do expect a review in the future!

This event was a pre-party of sorts to Lucky Magazine‘s LuckyFABB West, which is today and tomorrow! (Technically speaking, I am there already when this goes up!). Drew Barrymore is going to be speaking, which I can’t wait for, because I’ve reviewed a few of her new Flower Beauty products on here already! She’s also Lucky’s May 2013 Cover girl…doesn’t she look fabulous with brown hair?

Stylehaüs is an interesting place- it’s a members only boutique! So that means I was extra-special  to get a peek inside. It’s quite small, but lots of fashionable pieces are housed inside, like what the chic mannequins above are wearing! I liked some of the jewels they had.

Aloxxi Dry Styles and Color Consultations!

Aloxxi did some dry-styling and color consulting at the event. I had a style done by Angel, who did a great job on my hair. He was uber-fast, too! His inspiration was Brigitte Bardot meets a convertible with the top down. Aloxxi is also apparently from the founder of OPI, according to the pamphlet I received. How cool is that?

Surprisingly, he only used a few bobbypins and small rubberbands to hold my mane together! He teased the heck out of it to get that little “pouf,” which had me a little scared to brush my hair later, but thankfully, it was a breeze to brush through with some detangler!

The products shown above are the same as the ones I have to review. There is a weightless styling gelee, a dry shampoo, a thermal styling spray, a thickening serum, and a restorative hair serum. I’m thrilled to try these- my hair has been having some bad days lately…More on these products to come!

This past weekend I attended Pamper Me Fabulous at Vibiana in Downtown LA. I also attended last year and wrote about it on Nadine Jolie’s blog. If you’re unfamiliar with PMF, it is essentially a perfect ladies’ event full of shopping, seminars, and fun workouts. There are a plethora of brands selling beauty, fashion, food products, and more. Sponsors included Dermalogica, Vision Essentials, Body Boudoir, and Crazy Girl. If you’re interested in attending, there are events in Dallas, Chicago, Miami, New York, and they will be back in LA in November! Don’t forget to bring your girlfriends!

I was never a big fan of dry shampoo because I found that it was very hard for my dark hair to not look gray/white after applying, even after brushing it. This is the first dry shampoo that has actually worked on my dark hair! I’m super thankful because my hair gets super oily, unfortunately. I just spritz a few sprays in my roots, let is dry/turn white for a minute or so, and then brush it out. Then I’m left with luscious locks all over again! And the major bonus, you can find this for under $10 at the drugstore or ULTA. Woohoo!

My New Hair! (Color by Sherry Ratay)

Today I wanted to show you my new hair! It’s kind of funny because my last video was how I curled my long hair, and now I cut half of it off. The reason I cut my hair was because I wasn’t doing anything good with it, it was boring and in a bun half of the time. I think a lot of people, myself included, just have long hair to have long hair. Also, since spring is coming (and quicker in California), this shorter do will keep me a lot cooler in the coming months! In the video I talk a little bit about my inspiration, show a before and after photo, and more…so make sure to watch it!

I had the awesome opportunity to get my hair colored by Sherry Ratay, who is an Orlando-based colorist who comes out to Beverly Hills’ Gavert Atelier salon to do fabulous people’s hair. For example, Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars was right after me! I never color my hair (except in middle school I got highlights), so I wanted something subtle so I didn’t have to come in and maintain it often. Sherry gave me some caramel pieces using Minardi‘s Goldilocks. She told me she used a particular technique called American Baliage, which gives a very natural look and is only on the bottom half of the hair.  It’s not quite ombre, though!

I’m really loving finding new ways to style my hair…so if you want some videos on that please let me know!
