As I’m sure you all know by now, I’m a massive candle fiend and my candle wishlist is a non stop growing thing…there are so many good candles out there and so little time (if we’re friends, now you know the way to my heart). I’ve been wanting to try Boy Smells, an LA neighbor of mine with some cult favorite scents in cute packaging to boot. I was lucky enough to get these at a gift from work, so I’ve finally gotten the chance to try them after years of yearning for one…and I’ve got to say…I sense a new obsession. Starting at $29 a pop…Boy Smells scents are covetable without the hefty price tag of a diptyque or byredo scent, but packs a high end fragrance punch that knocks Bath & Body Works and the like out of the game entirely.
The Kush, Ash, and Cedar Stack Votive Set ($44) is the perfect entry level mini candle set for someone that wants to give Boy Smells a try without committing to a single scent. These are actually the first scents the brand ever developed. For a while I was so obsessed with having full size candles, but the votive sizes are so great to have for when you only have a short time to burn a candle, and don’t want to risk an uneven burn on a large size favorite.
Now, onto the actual scents…
KUSH is scented with cannabis, suede, white musk, tulip, and amber
ASH smells like firewood, smoke, charcoal, palo santo, and hay
CEDAR STACK has notes of cedar, labdanum, juniper berry, sawdust, and white musk
My favorite out of the bunch is the one that I thought I’d like the least based on description…ASH! I love this one so much, I accidentally burnt it for WAY too long and burnt half of it on the first use. So if anyone wants to get me a full size for any occasion…I won’t be mad. For the mini size candles, I wouldn’t recommend more than a 2 hour burn each time you burn it, because any longer than that you run the risk of running out of it way too quick, which is definitely the case for me & ash.
I now have a new favorite candle brand…how cute of a valentine’s day gift would these be?! It’s my new goal to collect them all (especially Purple Kush)…they’re too good to pass up, plus, they match my living room ideal aesthetic perfectly…
Comment below and let me know your current favorite candle brand! Who should I try out next?
