Happy 4/20! As a preface to this post I’d like to highlight the ACLU’s Marijuana Arrests by The Numbers article. There are still thousands of people incarcerated for possession of small amounts of marijuana or that have such charges on their records – and blacks are almost 4x more likely than whites to be arrested for possession. Contact your elected officials or vote on relevant bills that make the ballot – it’s important!
I’m excited to share some awesome cannabis infused skin & fragrance products from herb essntls. I featured their candle in my 4/20 friendly gift guide this winter, and have been testing the rest of the products ever since. They did recently release a new perfume oil, which I don’t have- but is sure to smell amazing if it’s anything like the candle.
The entire herb essntls like is engineered around Cannabis Sativa seed oil. This oil is non-comedogenic (take that, coconut oil). It’s rich in vitamin E, anti-inflammatory, and soothing to your skin. I received 4 of their products to try: moisturizer, body lotion, lip balm, and a candle.
My ultimate favorite is the body lotion – it’s so lightweight, non-greasy, and makes my skin feel so smooth after shaving. The moisturizer is a close second- I’ll admit I was scared to use it at first, not sure why, but any new skincare product is a risk because my skin gets inflamed easily. This moisturizer was perfect for my oily skin and I didn’t experience any sort of breakouts.
While the lip balm worked well, I wasn’t crazy about it because it has peppermint, which I hate the feeling of anywhere on my face. The candle also smells great, but I think there are better candles out there for the price!
Overall, I’d say herb essntls is pretty darn good. I’d recommend the moisturizer and lotion the most, if you’re dying to experiment with cannabis in your beauty routine. I will say that the products packaging could be improved, because the products are priced pretty high, but the packaging is pretty standard and the labels aren’t waterproof, which is something I like as it helps them keep looking nice!
Let me know in the comments below – would you try cannabis in your skincare?
There is also another oil called CBD oil, that is made up of pure hemp oil. I learned everything about CBD oil, but still have some doubts if I should use it. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried it.
