A few weeks ago I bought the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Powder during ULTA’s 20% off sale. I was excited to try it because HeyClaire loves it, and I’ve always wanted a more high end powder, as my current holy grail is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.
I just had to see how these powders stacked up to one another. The Rimmel Stay Matte is only $3.99, and the Too Faced costs a cool $30.
So, the first time I applied it, I decided to do a side by side, which, I almost never do, but since they seemed comparable enough and the price was such a massive difference, I figured I’d get away with it.
I applied both powders to halves of my face and wore them through a typical work day. I liked how it was light but not too light, and was essentially transparent. I feel like my Rimmel one, although the shade name is transparent, still shows a tiny bit of color on my fair skin. I wore them both all day with no blotting, no touch ups, nothing. And honestly, there was no discernible difference on which side was oilier for me. I snapped a few friends and had entirely conflicting opinions: to one friend they looked the same, and then two others each voted for opposite sides of my face. So, I was calling it a draw, but, since I love the packaging of the Too Faced, I made the switch and started wearing it over my whole face.
And then I started breaking out. At first, it was only on one side – the half of my face that I had tested the powder on. But, as I started using it on my full face, more breakouts started popping up. I discontinued using the product maybe 2 days after I first tried it, but the damage was done.
I’m returning it for sure, but have yet to get around to making it to ULTA. I rarely return beauty products, but this one was too expensive and too bad for me to keep. Such a shame!
So, if you have sensitive, breakout prone, and oily skin like I do, I wouldn’t recommend this powder to you. Everyone is different, though, so if you like the Rimmel Stay Matte but want something a little bit fancier- this one is a good option.
Sound off below- what are your favorite powders?
