Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Plastic Passion Collection recently came out & I have 3 of the 6 lip tars to show you today. These ones are definitely the boldest! I have used OCC Lip Tars ever since hearing about them on YouTube when I first started 5 years ago. I first purchased a few at IMATS 2009. Now, they are sold at Sephora! They’ve come such a long way- it’s amazing! Anyways, getting a bit off topic. Here are all of the shades in the collection:
- Pool Boy (aquatic blue)
- Rollergirl (vibrant lavender)
- Mannequin (malibu pink)
- Pleasure Model (pearlescent pink)
- Kimber (neon orange coral)
- Hollywood (beige w/ gold shimmer)
For those of you unfamiliar with Lip Tar, it’s essentially a liquid lipstick. It is very liquidy, which is why you have to use a lip brush to apply it. They are also SUPER pigmented and only need a small drop to cover your lips. After a few minutes it dries down and lasts for hours. It’s pretty drying, as a lot of long wear lip colors are, but I think they’re worth it…you just gotta be diligent with lip balm & exfoliating your lips prior!
Pool Boy is definitely not an everyday shade. I’ve seen tons of girls rock blue lipstick (including Ke$ha, Rihanna & Lady Gaga), so it’s fun for a costume look. But, Pool Boy isn’t restricted to just that. If you have other lip tar shades, it makes a great mixing color. Mix it with purples, pinks, and reds to get varying purple hues.
I think you’d be surprised at how good Pool Boy looks on it’s own…I just don’t know if I have the guts to wear it out yet!
Mannequin is probably the most versatile color out of the 3, because who doesn’t love Barbie pink lips? It is a touch pastel, which makes it a bit harder to wear in my opinion, but I’ve worn it out already. I will say it makes teeth look yellower, so make sure to whiten your teeth beforehand- unless you don’t care like I do!
You can see it looks great & not too pale on my fair skin tone. Another way I like to wear Mannequin is by mixing it with my orange lip tar called Beta. It makes an awesome coral shade. I recently went to an OCC event and their spokesmodel Deven Green complimented my lip color, which was Mannequin + Beta mixed!
Rollergirl is a cool toned purple shade. It instantly reminded me of Katricia lip tar, which has now been discontinued. I think Rollergirl would look amazing on dark skin tones. I like this shade, but I definitely prefer it mixed with a bit of pink so it isn’t so cool toned.
If you saw my Radiant Orchid lipstick tutorial, you saw both Mannequin & Rollergirl in action. They definitely make an awesome combination that is totally on trend.
I know I’ll be reaching for these lip tars throughout spring. They are such fun colors! If you could only purchase one, I’d recommend Mannequin because it is great on it’s own and mixed. If you love orange like I do, definitely check out Kimber, which I wish I had! It would make for a great Tangerine Tuesday post!
OCC lip tars retail for $18 and you can purchase online at occmakeup.com or Sephora.
