The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush is a new product that is extremely unique. You can buy them for around $7.99 (mine was $7.59) at drugstores. There are 10 colors total, I picked #30, Candy Coral. Maybelline describes it as a gel formula, but I think it is more of a cream to powder finish.
The texture of this blush is extremely unique- it’s similar to memory foam that doesn’t bounce back! (which is kind of ironic since they called it bouncy!) Candy Coral is a gorgeous orange color with a subtle shimmer (more like a satin/glowy finish). I can’t see the shimmer when I apply it which I like.
This product is pretty sheer, which is its only downfall. I have to either put a ton on my finger (I hear this doesn’t apply well with a brush), or, for more pigment, pat the blush directly from the container onto my cheeks (definitely less sanitary)
A lot of people are dissing this product due to the sheerness of it. So, I would mainly recommend it to pale people like me, because I have no problem making it show up on my skin. Also, if you are darker, you can try one of the more pigmented colors (Plum Wine and Hot Tamale). Another thing I like to do is layer another powder blush on top of it. My favorite pairing for this one is MAC Highland Honey (limited edition). It will make the blush stay on even longer!
I am really impressed with this product. Due to its cream to powder formulation, I am able to wear it on my oily skin without looking oilier. Even though it’s gimmicky, I think it’s a great drugstore buy. Now let’s hope for some more pigmented colors in the future! (I may have to get Hot Tamale!)
