Ever since the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara came out it’s been making waves in the drugstore mascara world- I couldn’t stop hearing about it! So, I was super curious for myself as to see what all the hype was about.
From the moment I saw the packaging and wand, it seems to me like it was trying to dupe Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, which is my ultimate favorite mascara- so I had to try this one to see if I could save some money on my mascara.
It has an extremely similar wand to Better Than Sex- an hourglass shape with the same type of long wand bristles. Most of the time the brush is what makes the mascara, as there aren’t a ton of different mascara formulas out there (as compared to other cosmetics).
Comparing Lash Paradise to the photo from my Too Faced Better Than Sex Review from last year, I’d say they’re pretty darn similar, but my lashes are thicker and blacker with this formula.
My only gripe with the formula, as compared to Better Than Sex, is that this one is drier off the bat- it’s super thick, so it gets clumpy and dries on your lashes fast. Better Than Sex starts off slightly wetter (although it’s still a dry formula), and takes a bit longer to dry out. I’ve been using this mascara for less than two weeks and I already feel like I can toss it soon, because it’s getting a bit hard to cooperate with my lashes. With Better Than Sex, I can at least use it for a full month. I try to use only 1 mascara per month, and not use it longer than that since it dries out…even though they say you can use mascara for 3 months- I feel better safe than sorry!
I like both and would continue to repurchase both mascaras for sure- I always have back ups on back ups of mascara, so it’s not something I have to repurchase too often. But, I can see why there’s so much hype on this mascara, which I would say Lash Paradise is worth. I don’t think I’ve liked or tried a new drugstore mascara as much since CoverGirl Lash Blast was a thing- remember that?
For those reasons, I can’t say I can choose a favorite, as they both have their pros and cons. Sound off below- which mascara would you pick?
