In September I was contacted by Londontown to review their nail products- fast forward almost 2 months and here we are! I love trying out new brands, so I was thrilled to check out Londontown, because I hadn’t even heard of them prior! It’s crazy how many beauty brands are out there that even I don’t know! Anyways, Londontown is an exclusively nail polish & nail care line that is inspired by the UK- and guess what, they’re natural! The line is not only 5 free– Londontown is vegan, cruelty free, and gluten free! Their chemist formulated their polishes, called lakur, with vitamins, minerals, and vegetable protein (instead of wheat/animal protein).
First, let’s take a peek at Londontown’s Kur Restorative Nail Cream ($35). This product strengthens and nourishes nails with a blend of Rapeseed flower oil, coconut oil, and additional botanical ingredients. It comes with a pair of gloves in order to wear this cream overnight! The cream has a lavender scent, which I’ve never been crazy about, but it isn’t too strong. I find that this cream is a great addition to my nail routine, as it really does make my nails feel strong & made my cuticles look a lot healthier.
Now, let’s get onto the fun stuff…the lakur! I was sent two shades to review: Purple Reign & Thames From The Eye($22 each). These are from their current 2013 collection, but check their website for their fall & winter shades. Lusting after Waterloo Sunset & Across The Pond!
Thames from the Eye is a bluish green with a tad bit of gray added into it. I am really impressed with how opaque and shiny these polishes are! I could have gotten away with 1 coat on most nails, but there was the occasional streak, so I opted for 2. In this shot you see above, I’m wearing only 1 coat!
Purple Reign is a gorgeous mid-tone purple. It had the same exact formula as Thames from the Eye, which is always a bonus. I decided to put this one to a wear test to see how long it’d last! And guess what? It lasted 5 DAYS!
Look at how few chips there were…and I am rough on my nails, I’d say! I used Londontown’s Nail Hardener as a base coat & Protective Top Coat. I was afraid I wouldn’t have the shiny finish that I get with my favorite top coat, but this one is great! I really think you need to use all of these together in order to get the best results.
Overall I’m very impressed with Londontown’s products. I will say that they are a pretty high end line that I would have batted an eyelash to in the past. However, because they have the technology & performance that surpasses most mainstream polish brands, it’s worth it in my eyes. But, as someone who loves to frequently change my polish, I don’t always have the need for my polish to last 5 days. I would love to get this in a “staple” color- like a light pink, burgundy for fall, or my signature orange, because then I’d get a ton of use out of it. I need to try this line on my toes next!
