As a birthday treat to myself, I made a purchase online at Sephora of some items I’ve been wanting recently. The product I’ve been wanting the most is this Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain! It is a very luxurious product, at the steep price of $32, but I really wanted to add it to my orange lip collection, and try out my first YSL product!
This product is a two-in one product, providing a gloss and a lip stain in one! It has really amazing packaging, and I love the unique shaped sponge applicator. I am really loving it so far. A few things I’m noticing…the smell isn’t that great- I’ve heard someone say it smells like roses but in my opinion it just smells strange. Also, it dries down pretty sticky, which can annoy some, but it helps it last longer. It’s actually pretty easy to get used to. It isn’t sticky like lip glosses, but just dries down to a tacky feeling.
This product is build-able to achieve the color you want. The first coat is a light stain with touch of gloss to it. I find that it photographs kind of streaky, but it doesn’t look like that in person. I’ve also tried it over lip liner and I like that look as well, it provides a lot more pigment!
With 2 coats you get the most perfect orange glossy stain. The product does have some slight shimmer which isn’t detectable on the lips to me. You can see it a little in the picture above, but I don’t notice it on me, and I can’t feel any grittiness when I’m wearing it! I’m absolutely loving this product and I’m so glad I bought it. I wouldn’t buy any other colors, though, because I really am just an orange girl.
And I don’t think that will ever change! 😉
